Individual Analysis

The stories we tell ourselves form our identity and experience of the world. They shape our desires, who we are, and what we think is possible. They also limit us, like blinders blocking our view of new choices and opportunities. We often look for relief by talking to loved ones, ourselves, or chatbots, but still find ourselves still stuck.

Psychoanalysis is the practice of rewriting the stories we tell ourselves. A psychoanalyst listens carefully to what you say, and what you don’t. They relive your experiences with you, unearthing the structures that guide your decisions, and unconscious motivations. By making the unconscious conscious, making the unknown known, we will discover a new, richer, and more liberating story. Because understanding alone isn’t enough, analysis is also about deciding how to act and live the story of your life. Individual analysis often begins with weekly sessions. We can also discuss meeting bi-weekly or multiple times a week.

Fee: $250 per 50-minute session. Sliding scale rates are available on an individual basis.

Couples Therapy

Communication is key to every successful relationship, but it often comes with great difficulty, frustration, and hurt. Just getting your partner to talk can be hard enough! We inevitably replay painful patterns no matter how hard we try. It’s so easy to avoid conflict, ignore our true feelings, and not ask for what we want. Meanwhile, resentment grows and we feel neglected, taken for granted, and stretched too thin.

Talking to a professional helps to identify the issues that plague your relationship. Instead of trying to win an argument and repeating the same fight, we will interrogate the underlying dynamics and open the door to new possibilities. Couples therapy helps you hear each other in order to break out of repeating cycles of heartache. Together, we'll work to improve communication and understanding, foster connection and intimacy, and gain the relief you and your partner need to prosper.

Fee: $300 per 50-minute session. Sliding scale rates are available on an individual basis.

Group Therapy

We often struggle in our relationships and social situations, repeating frustrating and disappointing dynamics. Many of us go with the flow, feeling pressure to be cool, sacrificing our own interests. Asking for what we want is risky, and asserting ourselves to take control can cause anxiety and conflict. It’s impossible to please everyone. There’s always someone who could be mad at us.

In a modern psychoanalytic process group, we work through these difficulties by talking to others about our life experiences, stories, and what comes up for us in the here-and-now. Processing our internal worlds out loud, we build new connections and ways to relate to one another. The contained setting of the group equips us with the tools to be successful in our everyday lives. Group members then take what they learn to navigate social situations confidently and honestly, and build meaningful relationships.
